Unlike what you see on TV, a will isn’t supposed to be dramatic AND it isn’t just about “who gets what”. That IS part of it… but when you really start thinking, the big questions come up: Who will look after your kids if they’re still minors? Who’ll run your business? Who’ll be the beneficiary of your retirement plans? What about life insurance: How much do you need to leave enough for your family? Then, there are deeper questions no one likes to think about: Like? What if you become too sick to make medical and financial decisions? Who’ll make them for you? Does that person have authority to act in your name? Do they even know what you want? Last but NOT least, you didn’t leave all that money behind just to have your heirs lose half of it to taxes.
